Draft Action Agenda Reveal and Open House Set for September 25

The Envision Athens Steering Committee will unveil the draft Action Agenda over four open house sessions starting on September 25th. The meetings will begin with a brief welcome and introduction from the process Co-Chairs, Sharyn Dickerson and Bob Googe, followed by a presentation from the Planning Team. Attendees will be encouraged to walk through the room, read about major outcomes from the process, review the draft action proposals, and indicate their priorities. Members from the Steering Committee and the Planning Team will be available to discuss the plan and collect comments.

Monday, September 25 from 5:30 PM – 8 PM in the Athena Ballroom at the Classic Center

Additional Open House meetings will be held on:

  • Tuesday, September 26 from 11:30 AM – 2 PM in the Community Room at the Lyndon House
  • Tuesday, September 26 from 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM in cafeteria at Cedar Shoals High School
  • Thursday, September 28 from 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM in cafeteria at Clarke Central High School

Following the Open House sessions, the Steering Committee will reconvene to discuss the input, consider plan priorities, and develop an implementation framework. The Open House feedback will be summarized on the process webpage.

The draft Action Agenda is the product of more 8,500 comments collect from 1,229 participants. Through a large and small in-person meetings, online feedback and more targeted focus group and stakeholder sessions, the Steering Committee has developed of actions to move the Athens-Clarke County forward. These 100+ actions are divided into five major chapter: Place, Prosperity, People, Vitality, and Foundations.
