Envision Athens has been a transformative process for our community and is unprecedented in its scope, collaboration, and commitment to follow through. There are two opportunities available for further engagement with the Implementation of the Envision Athens Action Agenda.
The Envision Athens Implementation Oversight Committee is seeking three additional citizen representatives for the Oversight Committee and a Project Manager to oversee implementation of the Action Agenda.
The Oversight Committee seeks to add three citizens to the Envision Athens Implementation Oversight Committee. Major community stakeholders such as the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County, Clarke County School District, the University of Georgia, Athens Housing Authority, Athens Technical College, Georgia Power, Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, United Way of Northeast Georgia, the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Winterville currently sit on the committee and each has made funding contributions to support the implementation of the Action Agenda.
There is no financial contribution expected of you, nor is there financial compensation for your time. What is expected would be your full engagement for two years with one to two meetings held monthly over the next three months, and then monthly meetings for the remaining 21 months. Meetings will be scheduled to accommodate the majority of the committee members. Inevitably, you may not make all meetings, but because of the importance of this effort, it is expected that you will make most of them.
Currently, there are 20 members of the Oversight Committee made up of representatives of the major community stakeholders noted above. As with the initial Envision Athens Steering Committee, there is a desire that the Oversight Committee members reflect the demographics of our community to ensure our entire community is engaged and all voices are heard as we move through implementation of the Action Agenda.
For those interested in participating on the Oversight Committee, our initial request is for you to fill out the diversity survey found at the link here:
