UGA Office of Service Learning

We engage students in UGA’s public service mission as a fundamental part of their academic experience at UGA.
Service-learning enhances student learning through the application of academic skills and knowledge to address a community-identified need, issue, or problem. Service-learning is a core part of UGA’s experiential learning requirement.

Service-learning differs from community service, internships, or field study experiences because the service activity is connected to the course learning goals through reflection and critical analysis, and seeks to balance the benefits to the student with benefits to the community partners and the public good.

Marigold Farmers Market

Throughout the season, our Marigold Farmers Market every Saturday in Pittard Park brings the community together with live music, kid’s activities, hot food and craft vendors, and of course, so much beautiful fresh and local produce, cheese, eggs and meat, coffee, artisan bread and baked goods.

We are often joined by our friends from Winterville Arts Council, Winterville Library, Athens Area Master Gardeners and other local organizations who offer garden advice, host children’s storytime, crafts, group workouts, and other fun activities.

Enjoy a delightful selection of vendors offering fresh produce, locally raised meat, farm-fresh eggs, artisan cheeses, honey, cut flowers, plants, handmade goods, and more. We are proud to support over 20 family farms from across 8 counties!
